DESCRIPTION:Championship Honor: The 2021 CGA Match Play Championship will be held in the memory of 2011 Champion Michael Lee, who passed away from COVID-19 complications in December of 2020. Michael was a Colorado resident who played his college golf at Colorado School of Mines and will be honored during this year’s championship. To view or donate to his foundation page, The Michael Ray Lee Foundation, please CLICK HERE.\nHost Facility: CommonGround Golf Course and Colorado Golf Club\nDates: Monday, June 7 – Saturday, June 12\nEligibility: Open to all active CGA Members.\nEntry Fee: $250.00 for exempt players into the championship. Qualifying fees will be $95.00 per player with an additional $155.00 for successful qualifiers.\nField Size: Maximum of 64 players based on exemptions and successful qualifiers.\nQualifying: Players that are not on the EXEMPT LIST must go through a qualifying round at a course listed above.\nFormat: The CGA Match Play Championship will be played using the PGA TOUR style match play Pod Play system at gross scoring. This means that any player who qualifies for the championship will be guaranteed at least three (3) matches in the championship at CommonGround Golf Course. After each player is ranked (see below), all players will be distributed into their pod with three (3) other players. This will yield 16 pods of four (4) players. Each player will play all three other players in their pod at least once (see schedule below). The winner of each pod will advance to the Round of 16 and a single elimination knockout round will be played at CommonGround Golf Course. The top 8 players will advance to complete the championship at Colorado Golf Club in a single elimination bracket\nIf there is a tie for the pod winner or knockout stage, a sudden death playoff will determine the winner.\nSchedule:Monday (6/7): Day 1 of Pod Play from 7:00 a.m. – 9:40 a.m.Tuesday (6/8): Day 2 of Pod Play from 9:40 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.\nWednesday Morning (6/9): Day 3 of Pod Play from 7:00 a.m. – 9:40 a.m.\nWednesday Afternoon (6/9): Round of 16 beginning at 12:30 p.m.\nThursday (6/10): No matches will be played. An optional practice round will be available at Colorado Golf Club.\nFriday Morning (6/11): Quarterfinals at Colorado Golf Club from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.\nFriday Afternoon (6/11): Semifinals at Colorado Golf Club from 12:00 p.m. – 12:10 p.m.\nSaturday (6/12): The 36-Hole Championship Match at Colorado Golf Club begins at 7:00 a.m.\nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday, May 20th at 11:59 p.m. MT\n\n\n\n
