CU’s O’Loughlin notches third top-5 of season; CSU’s Bryant fires closing 66; UNC’s Sahm places in top 10
By Gary Baines – 02/24/2019
University of Colorado junior Daniel O’Loughlin recorded his fifth top-10 finish of the season, senior Morgan Sahm of the University of Northern Colorado her first, and freshman Davis Bryant of Colorado State carded the low score of the day at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
O’Loughlin, who won the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in September, tied for fifth place individually on Sunday at the Wyoming tournament, held in Palm Desert, Calif. It marked the Englishman’s third top-five of the season.
O’Loughlin shot rounds of 71-68-73 for a 4-under-par 212 total, which left him five strokes behind winner Skyler Eubank of Boise State.
At that same event, Bryant rebounded from a second-round 79 with a bogey-free 6-under-par 66 that included an eagle. That vaulted him up 49 spots on the scoreboard, to a 13th-place finish at 218.
In the team standings, CSU tied for fifth at 877, while CU was seventh at 880 and the University of Denver was 13th at 899 in the 21-team event.
Meanwhile, at the Grand Canyon Women’s Spring Invitational that concluded on Sunday in Phoenix, Coloradan Sahm tied for 10th place, helping UNC to a seventh-place showing in the 20-team tournament. Sahm went 73-73-75 for a 5-over-par 221 total, which left her nine strokes back of champion Teresa Toscano of South Dakota State.
