Runner-up team finish among the best for DU men in last 4 years; Missura, Seiple, Prendergast notch individual top-10s

On a day several local players posted top-12 individual finishes in NCAA Division I tournaments, redshirt freshman Esteban Missura from the University of Denver led the way, placing third at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Oregon and giving the Pioneers perhaps their best team performance in four years.
It was quite an accomplishment for Missura, who had never before finished in the top 30 of a large-field college tournament.
The golfer from Ecuador went 72-67-77 for an even-par total of 216, which left him four strokes behind champion Blake Tomlinson of Utah.
With Missura setting the pace, the DU men (pictured) finished a season-best second place in the 17-team field. Utah, featuring 2018 CGA Amateur champion Kyler Dunkle, won the team title by six over the Pioneers.
The team showing was arguably the best for the DU men since 2015, though the Pioneers finished second out of eight teams in last spring’s Summit League Championship.
Also on Tuesday:
— Castle Pines resident Josh Seiple, a senior at the University of Mississippi, recorded his second top-10 performance of the season by sharing 10th place (71-74-71) at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in Chula Vista, Calif.
— Colorado State University senior Katrina Prendergast likewise notched her second top-10 showing of the season by finishing 10th in the BYU at Entrada Classic in St. George, Utah. Teammate Saga Traustadottir, a freshman from Iceland, tied for 11th.
— Also at Entrada, Parker resident Anna Kennedy, a junior at BYU, likewise shared 11th place, marking her best college showing of the last two seasons.
