Eight U.S. Mid-Amateur competitors set to tee it up for CGA Mid-Am at Legacy Ridge

Just two weeks after the world’s top mid-amateur championship concluded in Colorado, the CGA will conduct its own annual tournaments for players 25 and older.
The 33rd CGA Mid-Amateur is set for Friday through Sunday at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster. The field of 84 will include eight players who competed in the U.S. Mid-Am at Colorado Golf Club and CommonGround Golf Course, including two who advanced to the round of 32: Nick Nosewicz of Meadow Hills Golf Course and Ryan Axlund of Valley Country Club.
Other national Mid-Am competitors scheduled to tee it up at Legacy Ridge are Michael Harrington of Garden of the Gods Club, Steve Irwin and Charlie Santaularia of Lakewood Country Club, Kent Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club, Charlie Sahlman of Cherry Creek Country Club and David Lysaught of Aspen Golf Club.
In addition, eight former CGA Mid-Amateur champions are in the field at Legacy Ridge: last year’s winner Jared Reid of Legacy Ridge, Chris Thayer of Walnut Creek Golf Preserve (2014 and ’17), Jon Lindstrom of Lakewood CC (2008, ’15 and ’16), Keith Humerickhouse of Gypsum Creek Golf Course (2010, ’11, ’12 and ’13), Harrington (2009), Robert Polk of Colorado Golf Club (2007), Irwin (2003 and ’05) and Moore (1995).
Other players scheduled to play in this week’s Mid-Am include Paul Erdman of Colorado National Golf Club, low amateur in the 2019 CoBank Colorado Senior Open; Sean Thomas of The Club at Pradera, who on Tuesday qualified with Jason Browder for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball; former CGA Match Play champion Brian Dorfman of Cherry Creek CC; former Colorado State University golfer Dominic Kieffer; and reigning CGA Western Chapter champion Richard Bradsby of Lakewood CC.
In all, 54 of the contestants have a handicap of scratch or better.
The field will be cut from 84 to the low 40 players and ties after Saturday’s second round.
The championship also will feature a competitive division for super-Mid-Amateurs — those 40 and older — who will play for the overall championship as well.
The Mid-Amateur marks the final multi-day CGA championship of 2019.
