Willis Case set to host CGA Super-Senior Match Play as Johnson will attempt to defend title
By Gary Baines – 05/18/2019
It’s very rare in the recent past for a CGA championship to be conducted at Willis Case Golf Course, but the venerable Denver layout will host the CGA Super-Senior Match Play for golfers 63 and older.
(Updated 5-21) After overnight snow canceled play on Tuesday, the 32-man event will begin on Wednesday, with two rounds of matches planned for each of the first two days and the scheduled 18-hole championship set for Friday morning.
Harry Johnson of Eagle Ranch Golf Course, a two-time CGA Senior Player of the Year who won last year’s title, will be the No. 1 seed at Willis Case (course pictured in City of Denver photo). The remainder of the field is seeded based on the 2018 CGA Super-Senior Player of the Year standings.
Sean Forey of The Club at Rolling Hills, the 2018 Super-Senior Player of the Year and winner of the Super-Senior Stroke Play last summer, will be seeded second.
Robert Polk of Colorado Golf Club, who won his fourth CGA Senior Amateur last year at age 63, will be No. 3 in the seedings. Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Kent Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club, the 2017 winner of this event, will be No. 4.
