Broomfield’s Franklin 3 out of lead at halfway point of IMG Junior Worlds; all 4 Coloradans make cut at national Girls Junior PGA

Walker Franklin of Broomfield moved into the top five at the halfway point of the boys 15-18 tournament at the prestigious IMG Academy Junior World Championships in the San Diego area.
Franklin (pictured) shot a 4-under-par 68 at Torrey Pines’ North Course, leaving him at 3-under 141 overall. That’s just three strokes behind leader Andi Xu of San Diego.
Franklin made an eagle, three birdies and a bogey in round 2.
Meanwhile, all four Coloradans competing in the national Girls Junior PGA Championship in Hartford, Conn., made the 36-hole cut on Wednesday.
Charlotte Hillary of Cherry Hills Village continues to set the pace for the Coloradans and she shares 16th place at 2-under-par 138 after a second-round 70. The two-time Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Tour Championship winner trails leader Rose Zhang of Irvine, Calif., by eight strokes.
On Wednesday, Hillary made four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.
As for the other Coloradans, Lauren Lehigh of Loveland and Marie Jordaan of Cherry Hills Village are tied for 56th place at 144, while Hailey Schalk of Erie is 68th at 145.
