Former Buff Jeremy Paul’s torrid finish nets top-5 showing; Mason, Steven Kupcho post top-5s elsewhere

Former University of Colorado golfer Jeremy Paul is no stranger to success and high finishes on mini tours. It was just last year that the golfer from Germany won three straight tournaments on the Outlaw Tour.
Recent weeks haven’t quite matched that level, but Paul nevertheless has put together a very nice string of golf.
On Thursday, he tied for fifth place in an 87-man field on the Golden State Tour, marking his third consecutive top-10 showing in mini-tour action. For those eight rounds of tournament play, his average score per round has been 67.
Paul went 66-67-64 for a 16-under-par 197 total this week in the GCU Championship in Phoenix, ending up five strokes behind champion KK Limbhasut of Phoenix. Paul earned $2,433.
Paul finished the week with two eagles, 15 birdies and three bogeys. He played his final four holes of the event in 5 under par, finishing with an eagle.
Also notching a top-10 finish on Thursday was former Colorado State University golfer Colton Yates, who shared ninth place at 199 (67-66-66).

Also in the last week, two players with strong Colorado connections posted top-five finishes at a mini-tour-like event in Parker, Ariz. Nick Mason of Parker placed third and former CGA Player of the Year Steven Kupcho tied for fourth on Sunday at the Parker Open.
In an event won by one-time PGA Tour winner Alex Cejka, Mason finished two strokes out of a playoff, earning $3,000. He shot rounds of 67-71-66 for a 12-under-par 204 total.
In the final three weeks of April, Mason recorded third- and fifth-place finishes on the Outlaw Tour, the third on Sunday and a 13th-place showing on Thursday at the GCU Championship.
Meanwhile, Kupcho went 72-67-67 for a 206 tally that was worth $1,750.
