Mary Weinstein hasn’t yet posted an individual victory as an NCAA Division I golfer, but she’s often a fixture near the top portion of the scoreboard.
The University of Denver junior from Highlands Ranch, twice each the CGA Women’s Player of the Year and the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado’s Girls POY, on Monday tied for ninth place in the 93-player field at the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.
It marks Weinstein’s second top-10 of the season in large-field events and her third in a season and a half at the Division I level. She also has three other top-15s in invitationals during that time. In addition, Weinstein shared sixth place in a 19-player, three-team tournament a month ago.
This time, Weinstein (pictured) went 72-68-72 for a 4-under-par 212 total, which left her eight strokes behing winner Aneka Seumanutafa of Ohio State and four shots out of second place.
DU teammate Sophie Newlove ended up a stroke behind Weinstein, in 11th place (72-67-74).
DU placed ninth as a team in the 16-school tournament, ending up 10 strokes behind champion Nebraska.
