Four golfers who either at least reside in Colorado part of the year or are former residents qualified for the 64-person match-play bracket at the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Part-time Gunnison resident Marilyn Hardy, Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Kim Eaton, Stacey Arnold of Westminster and Hall of Famer Janet Moore of Centennial all punched their tickets to match play on Sunday.
Hardy (pictured), who made it to the round of 16 at last year’s Senior Women’s Am, shot a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday, giving her a two-day total of 6-over 150, good for a tie for 10th place in stroke play. Hardy made five birdies in the second round.
Eaton, a four-time quarterfinalist in this event, tied for 30th place after going 77-78–155. She easily made the cut despite a triple-bogey 8 on the 15th hole Sunday. Eaton carded a 7 on that same hole on Saturday.
Arnold, a 50-year-old competing in her first U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, placed 38th on Sunday after rounds of 78-79 left her at 157.
And Moore, who went to the round of 32 in this event in 2018, carded rounds of 78-80 for a 158 total and a tie for 44th place.
Martha Leach of Hebron, Ky., sister of World Golf Hall of Famer Hollis Stacy, earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 143 total.
In Monday’s round-of-64 matches, Hardy will face Pamela Kuong of Wellesley Hills, Mass., Eaton will meet Australian Sue Wooster, Arnold will play Anita Wicks of Roseburg, Ore., and Moore will take on Sherry Weight of Oxnard, Calif.
