23 additional Colorado girls qualify for Optimist Junior Golf Championship

Colorado-based qualifying for next month’s Optimist Junior Golf Championship concluded on Wednesday with 23 more Coloradans advancing to the event that will be held at Trump National Doral in Miami.
Wednesday’s qualifying was conducted at Meadow Hills Golf Course in Aurora with three girls age divisions competing: 15-18, 13-14 and 10-12.
Emma Bryant of Aurora, a former champion in the 5A girls state high school tournament and the Colorado Junior Match Play, shared medalist honors in the 15-18 competition at 3-over-par 73 with Kaylee Chen of Greenwood Village.
Medalists in the other age divisions were Timbre Shehee of Mead (5-over-par 75 in 13-14) and two-time Drive, Chip & Putt national finalist Caitlyn Chin of Greenwood Village (3-over 73 in 10-12).

The Optimist Junior Golf Championship is held in three phases in Miami:
— July 16-21 for boys 10-11, boys 12-13 and girls 10-12
— July 21-26 for boys 14-15 and girls 13-14
— July 26-31 for boys 16-18 and girls 15-18
